Announcement of holding groundbreaking ceremony for “Okinawa Uruma New Energy Corporation’s Nakagusuku Biomass Power Plant”, the largest wooden biomass power plant in Okinawa-ken

Okinawa Uruma New Energy Corporation (hereinafter, “joint venture company”), a joint venture company of 11 companies including erex Co., Ltd., Ltd., Kyuden Mirai Energy Company, Incorporated., TOYO KANETSU K.K., Okinawa Gas., Tokyo Gas Engineering Solutions Corporation., and local companies based in Okinawa-ken, was established in July 2017. This joint venture company held a groundbreaking ceremony today for the “Nakagusuku Biomass Power Plant” (hereinafter referred to as “the biomass power project”), the largest wooden biomass power plant in Okinawa-ken, at the planned construction site (located in the Nakagusuku Bay Harbor New Port Industrial Park in Uruma-shi, Okinawa-ken).

About 120 people including representatives of the joint venture company and those involved in the project participated in the groundbreaking ceremony, and prayed for the safety of the project
Here are the words from Mr. Hitoshi Honna, Representative Director and President of Okinawa Uruma New Energy Corporation when he attended the groundbreaking ceremony. “Building a power plant that can contribute to Okinawa-ken was our initial thought and many companies based in Okinawa-ken who have nod in the direction of construction agreed to invest in this project. We would not have been able to realize this project without the support from all of you.
Therefore, this power plant is for those living in Okinawa-ken, and we hope that this power plant would push Okinawa’s energy reformation a step ahead. We believe that Okinawa-ken will continue to make efforts to realize a low-carbon and carbon-free society, and we would make contributions to Okinawa-ken as a company that provides zero-emission electricity with this power plant as its centerpiece. We will promise to lead this project to a success, always thanking for your continuous support.”
This biomass power project is scheduled to begin its operation from the end of July 2021.
erex Co., Ltd., Kyuden Mirai Energy Company,Incorporated, Tokyo Gas Engineering Solutions Corporation, and TOYO KANETSU K.K. will operate the power plant, and Kyudenko Corporation will be in charge of the electrical installation work at the power plant.
We will operate a stable business by combining our knowledge and taking advantage of each company’s strengths.
While we run this project safely and stably, we will actively promote domestic business that uses renewable energy to show our contribution towards preventing global warming and forming a recycle-based society.
