“Development plan for a large-sized biomass power plant” – Planned construction site for Japan’s largest biomass power plant

As announced on our website’s News & Topics on August 15th, 2018 titled “Planning for the world’s largest biomass power plant”, erex Co., Ltd.*1 was in a phase to proceed a large sized biomass power plant business that does not use feed-in tariff (FIT) for renewable energy but is economically dependent and having competitiveness as the foundation.

During this interactional sequence, erex signed a memorandum with the Russian Government on March 20th, 2019 to import 2 million tons of biomass fuel per year. As Niigata-ken is among the closest location to Russia and that Mr. Hideyo Hanazumi, the Governor of Niigata has been actively driving invitations, we reported our current situation to him on March 27th, 2019. His reply was favorable saying “This is an expectable project that will make the people of the prefecture feel positive”.
We are now pleased to announce that we have begun considering Niigata-ken as one of the planned construction sites for a large-sized biomass power plant.

Therefore, we will carry out intensive analysis for location, large-scale power sources, selling zero-emission power, business partners, stable supply and stockpiling of fuel, financing, and other factors, and will further investigate these issues to realize this project.
