erex Co., Ltd.*1 and TEPCO Energy Partner,Incorporated*2, announced and agreement today to establish a joint venture, Evergreen Marketing Co., Ltd., to carry out our retail electricity business on March 29th, 2012.

1. Purpose and background of the establishment
In 2018, the Japanese government has set upon the “5th Basic Energy Plan*3”, which outlines a policy to ensure the realization of the energy mix by 2030 and our country’s challenge for “energy transition” and “decarbonization” by 2050. This policy clarified for the first time that renewable energy is going to be used as a main power source. Under this situation, erex is aiming to become a leading company in the renewable energy field as we have biomass power generation as a staple product along with our agency sales expertise and a strong sales capability. TEPCO EP’s strength is not only their knowledge related to product development and service offerings gained through its retail electricity business but making proposals which meet the demands of individual customers for energy and cost savings matters.
By comprehensively utilizing the management resources and functions of both companies, we believe that we can develop a new retail electricity business for the next generation and provide even greater added value. This is why we have decided to establish a joint venture company.
2. Overview of the new company and its future development
The new company will begin its operation from April this year, targeting customers nationwide who has extra high-tension and high-tension*4 contracts. In addition, along with its electricity service, this new company will provide value-added services that contribute to energy savings and cost reduction, adding environmental value to renewable energy source offered to companies joining the RE 100 initiative by leveraging the experience as a retail electric utility and its community-based sales capability.
Both companies will contribute to realize a sustainable society through the energy business of “Evergreen Marketing Co.,Ltd.”
