Acceleration of Business Globalization to Realize a De-Carbonized Society

Based on the "culture of challenge" that has been maintained since the start of business, erex Group will actively develop new businesses in the global field to realize a de-carbonized society.

Renewable Energy Business Developments in Asian Countries

erex Group will promote renewable energy businesses in Vietnam, Cambodia, and other Asian countries.
Among renewable energy sources (solar, wind, biomass, etc.), biomass power generation is not affected by weather conditions and can ensure a stable power supply. Moreover, by promoting this business through local production for local consumption, it is expected to improve the energy self-sufficiency ratio of the country, to reduce CO2 emissions, and to create jobs.
We, through this business, will contribute to the economic development of developing countries and the realization of global de-carbonization, while promoting the development of various biomass fuels to build resilient renewable energy sources.

In our business in Vietnam, we have invested in Hau Giang Bio Energy, a company established for the purpose of constructing and operating biomass power plants. In cooperation with the Vietnamese government, we will further promote "construction of new biomass power plants," "conversion of existing power plants to biomass," and "development of biomass fuels" in Vietnam.

Promoting the Development of Various Biomass Fuels Such as "New Sorghum”

One of the new fuels currently being developed is new sorghum. New sorghum is characterized by its ability to grow fast and at low cost, and its life cycle GHG emissions*, including cultivation, processing, transportation, and power generation, can be significantly reduced as compared to coal.

  • * Life cycle GHG refers to the total amount of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the cultivation of raw materials to final fuel use.

Basis for selecting suitable areas for sorghum cultivation

  1. Good access to international ports for easy export to Japan
  2. Areas with low risk of food competition (grains, fruits, nuts)
  3. Areas where farmers' incomes are low
  4. Central-south areas with low typhoon risk
  5. Areas where it is easy to acquire farmland for large-scale agriculture

Hydropower Generation Project in Cambodia

We have participated in a hydropower plant construction project with an output of 80 MW level in the Kingdom of Cambodia, which is experiencing one of the fastest economic growth in Asia.
While Cambodia is attracting a great deal of attention from foreign companies as a production base in Asia, the power supply capacity, which is indispensable for economic growth, is not sufficient and part of it depends on imports from neighboring countries.
This project is a hydropower generation project with a large water storage capacity, and is expected to play a significant role in ensuring a stable supply of electric power in the country as it is capable of generating power throughout the year.
