Signing of MOU with Can Tho Province, Vietnam, Regarding the Realization of a De–Carbonization Project Related to Biomass Power Generation Business

erex Co., Ltd. (Headquartered in Chuo-Ward, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Hitoshi Honna, hereinafter referred to as “the Company”) is pleased to announce that the Company has signed a “Comprehensive Collaborative Agreement on the Realization of Biomass Power Generation Business” (hereinafter referred to as the “MOU”) with Can Tho Province, Vietnam, for the purpose of exchanging and providing information on the development and study of biomass power plant projects.

A signing ceremony regarding the MOU was conducted at the “Investment Promotion Conference for Realizing the Vision of the Master Plan from 2030 to 2050” held on December 10, 2023, in the presence of Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính, between the Company and Can Tho Province.

As the international environment surrounding energy changes, in order for Asian countries to simultaneously respond to stable energy supplies, sustainable economic growth, and climate change countermeasures, it is important to develop energy plans tailored to each country’s circumstances.

Under these circumstances, the Company, focusing on achieving both de-carbonization and a stable supply of energy, develops energy such as “building biomass power plants in Vietnam”, “developing biomass fuel in Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries” and “fuel conversion using biomass co-combustion for coal-fired power (Fuel Conversion)”.

In Southeast Asian countries, where there is a wealth of unused biomass resources, there is ample room for the introduction of renewable energy, and the Company believes that it can make use of its experience that has been cultivated to date. Furthermore, the Company believes that the biomass business will not only increase the ratio of renewable energy in Southeast Asian countries, but also contribute to job creation.

The Company will contribute to the realization of low-cost and speedy de-carbonization while ensuring a stable supply of energy, taking into account the unique circumstances of Asian countries.

Towards the realization of “Zero Emissions 2050,” the Company will contribute to global de-carbonization and solving energy issues by working to build and expand biomass businesses in collaboration with leading domestic and overseas companies.
