Start of Trial Operations for the 1^st Grid-Scale BESS Project
Development of 2MW Output / 8MWh Storage Capacity BESS Station is
Underway in Kushima City, Miyazaki Prefecture

erex Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chuo-Ward, Tokyo; Representative Director & President: Hitoshi Honna; hereinafter referred to as “the Company”) is pleased to announce that the Company started trial operations today, March 16, 2026 (Mon), at the Kushima City BESS (battery energy storage system) Station in Miyazaki Prefecture (hereinafter referred to as “the BESS Station”), which has been under construction following the investment decision announced on September 4, 2025 (Thu) regarding the Company’s 1^st grid-scale BESS project.

The BESS Station will be directly connected to the power grid and will provide adjustment capabilities for fluctuations in renewable energy output. It will charge surplus electric power during the daytime when renewable energy generation, including solar power, is high, and discharge it at night or during peak demand hours to adjust the supply-demand balance. In addition, it will stabilize the grid by instantly supplying or absorbing electric power when the grid frequency is disrupted.

During the trial operations, the Company will rigorously verify the response performance of charging and discharging, coordination with the control system, and the operation of safety devices. Aiming to start operations in the 1st quarter of fiscal year 2026, the Company will promote the stabilization of the power grid, the expansion of renewable energy, and contributions to de-carbonized societies by entering the supply and demand adjustment market, the wholesale power market, and the capacity market.
