In conducting our business operation, erex place a key emphasis on cooperative relationships with partner companies and with the residents of local communities where our power plant constructions are located. This closely links with our goal of creating a decarbonized society. Instead of pursuing a new value just by ourselves, we believe that the key to a sustainable future lies in being able to create and enjoy value together with society.

Contributing to Business Revitalization in Communities

"Various companies in this area have benefited from the operation of erex's biomass power plant, and reusing power generation facilities which had been shut is such. I think this means a lot for our community."
This comment was made by Mr. Yutaka Tokuhira, president of Kyowa Transport Co., Ltd., which is now responsible for unloading biomass fuel carried by cargo ships from overseas and transporting it to Tosa Power Plant (Kochi -shi , Kochi -ken).
This company currently transports approximately 100,000 tons of PKS* per year under its partnership started from May 2013 with erex, and showing significant contribution to the stable operation of the power plant.
"Involving in the biomass power generation business which is at the cutting edge of carbon-free business operations will also improve our company’s reliability. I truly feel that this is a sustainable business model that allows us to build a mutually beneficial win-win relationship, rather than just having one side benefit from this system."

erex do not believe that a power plant should just be an energy production facility. We must create clean electricity while generating vitality in the community at the same time. Our belief is that we should keep this in mind when operating our power plant activities.
"Most of the staff at our power plant are local residents. We also consider that job creation in the community is another important mission for erex."

Deepening the Level of Interactions and Creating Vitality

"I always think that power plant operations are made possible only when we have cooperation from local communities."
So says Mr. Tomio Yamashita, director of Saiki Power Plant, from the bottom of his heart. The Saiki-shi, Oita-ken, where the power plant is located, is a picturesque city surrounded by beautiful ocean and trees. The plant is committed to delivering a stable power supply to everyone in the local community by maintaining a high operation rate, while at the same time paying sufficient care and consideration to the rich natural environment.

" We also actively deepen the level of our interactions with local residents, such as by participating in and supporting local community festivals and events, and cooperating with the local government and chamber of commerce while operating a safe and stable power plant. In addition, we also participate g in local education, such as by holding an 'Electricity Class' for parents and children during summer vacation, and being commissioned to provide Super Science High School instructors* which is equally important to erex."

• *Super Science High School (SSH) is an initiative to conduct advanced science and math education at high schools designated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), as well as to promote joint research with universities and initiatives to foster international attitudes.

Coexistence between companies and local communities is essential given our current aim of creating a sustainable global society. Moving forward, erex will continue our challenge to show contribution not only to the neighbor areas of the power plant location but to countries and regions where we have contact through business.
