erex: Notice Regarding Receipt of Government Approval for Data Center
Feasibility Study and Investment in the Kingdom of Cambodia

erex Co., Ltd.

erex Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-Ward, Tokyo; Representative Director & President: Hitoshi Honna; hereinafter referred to as “the Company”) announces that its local subsidiary in the Kingdom of Cambodia, KPS Energy (Cambodia) Co., Ltd., received approval from the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia, effective July 24, 2026, to conduct a feasibility study and make an investment for a data center business in Pursat Province, where erex Group is currently constructing a hydroelectric power plant.

The Company is currently developing the following decarbonized power source projects in Cambodia, totaling 170 MW in capacity:

  • ・Hydropower Plant (80 MW; scheduled to start operations this fiscal year)
  • ・Biomass Power Plant (50 MW; scheduled to start operations at the end of fiscal year 2027)
  • ・Solar Power Plant (40 MW; scheduled to start operations at the end of fiscal year 2027)

The Company believes that the stable supply of decarbonized electric power and the cooling capabilities utilizing the hydropower plant’s reservoir will serve as the foundation for its data center business in Cambodia.

Following the government approval this time, the Company will proceed with a concrete feasibility study aimed at realizing a data center business utilizing renewable energy.

Furthermore, in collaboration with the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia, the Company will advance the development of small/mid scale hydroelectric power, in addition to the hydropower, biomass, and solar power generation projects currently underway, thereby contributing to the establishment of new industrial infrastructure in Cambodia.

Overview of Asia Decarbonization Supply Chain Business Strategy

To realize a decarbonized society in Asia, the Company is implementing “Asia Decarbonization Supply Chain Business Strategy” that integrates operations ranging from fuel resource and decarbonized power source developments to electric power retail, while also addressing new electric power demands and leveraging environmental value. Through this strategy, the Company aims to enhance value across the entire energy value chain, encompassing “upstream” fuel resource development, “midstream” decarbonized power source development, and “downstream” activities such as electric power retail, GX/AX support, and response to new electric power demands.

The Company’s study of a data center project in the Kingdom of Cambodia this time is positioned as an initiative to meet new electric power demands by utilizing the decarbonized power sources that the Company is currently developing.
